All About The Canopy Bed

Filed under: Home Decoration — admin @ 2:07 am

This article about Canopy Bed will take a beginners look at this interesting subject. It will give you the information that you need to know most.

People take radically different approaches to home furnishings. For some people, it is all about creating the most comforting, conventionally attractive home possible. People like this tend to have fairly boring straight forward tastes in furniture, but they do it very well. They don’t have extravagant iron furniture. They don’t have artifacts from far off places, unless they are some pretty innocuous artifacts designed for tourists. They don’t paint their rooms in interesting colors, and rarely use wallpaper unless it has flowers on it. These are not people who put up canopy beds in their houses.

Although the canopy bed was once a very mainstream type of furniture, nowadays it appeals to a very specific type of person. Canopy beds are for the whimsical and the adventurous, the dark and creepy, and the people you just can’t quite figure out. Although almost anyone would love to get an heirloom canopy bed as a gift from an ancestor, few people would really be able to bring themselves to take it out of storage. I was fortunate enough to inherit just such an antique bed. It is one of those huge iron frame beds that they do not make any more. It is big, solid, and so heavy that it requires four people to carry. It is also very difficult to disassemble, and almost impossible to transport.

From what you have read so far, determine if this article has answered any of the questions that you had on this complicated subject.

Still, for me a canopy bed like that was worth it. I hired some movers, carefully packed it, and took it to my bedroom. It looked beautiful in there. It was a big iron frame with spiral decorations up and down the sides of the canopies. There were actual cast iron lions feet on the bed, as well as intricately carved figurines on the side! The only problem was the canopy. It had not withstood the years as well as the iron canopy bed head. It was old, faded, and a little bit mildewed. I took it off and put it in storage, but only for sentimental value. I knew I would never be able to use it again.

Finding a canopy bed canopy, however, did not prove too difficult. They are very easy to make so, after a bit of obsessing, I picked out some beautiful fabric. I hung it in strips from the sides of the bed, creating a thin diaphanous barrier from the rest of the room. All in all, the effect is beautiful and haunting. I can’t tell you how much I love that bed.

Looking For Bedding And Bath Accessories

Filed under: Home Decoration — admin @ 11:43 am

We have numerous other articles written on this very subject. Each one tackles a different aspect of bedding and bath accessories. Have you ever met someone that loves to shop so much that they should make a career out of it? My sister fits this description. She and her husband and been involved in building seventeen homes in the forty five years that they have been married. They live in each home for a period of time before they place it on the market. There are times when one else will sell before they have the next house completed so then they rent for a few months. Because of this constant moving and decorating they have had every type of appliance color, kitchen cabinetry, floor coverings and fixtures that are popular at the time of the build. Now that they have finally built their retirement home she has all the features that she has liked best from all the other homes melded together in one space. The result is a very grand home that could be in any magazine, however it doe lack some warmth.

Because of the building and selling of homes my sister and her husband have a great deal of money. She can afford all the shopping she does; however she remains to be quite frugal. The other day she invited me to go shopping and out to lunch. She is still decorating their new home and she was looking for bedding and bath accessories. She was done with the master bedroom and bath, but she still needed to complete the three guest rooms and two guest bathrooms. We made arrangements to meet at a store that sells brand name merchandise at a discount. I was surprised when she had mentioned this store to meet at. I had bought several designer articles of clothing at the store through the years, but I had never checked out their bedding and bath areas.

During the second part, we must switch to a more serious side to fully communicate the subject matter in a way for all to understand. I was surprised at the number of things they had. There were beautiful bed coverings, decorative pillows, area rugs and other accessories for the bedroom area as well as bathroom accessories. For the bath there were soap dispensers, towels, rugs shelving and wall hangings. Some of the items were nicked or scratches so you needed to sort through carefully; however they were discounted more than half of the regular retail price. This was a great thing for me to learn. I always thought my sister had such great bedding and bath accessories because she had so many financial resources to buy them; however the reality is that she knows the best places to shop for them. When went out for lunch I started asking her about other places to shop for home furnishings. She told me about some great resources that I was not aware of. I was glad I went on our bedding and bath excursion because I will now be able to furnish our home better. If you could take the main ideas from this article about bedding and bath accessories, and put them into a list, you would a great overview of what we have learned.
